Подготовлено госкорпорацией «Роскосмос» в соответствии с Законом Российской Федерации «О космической деятельности».
Подписанным распоряжением утверждён комплекс мер по проведению запуска с космодрома Байконур космического аппарата телекоммуникационного назначения (далее – КА) «Амазонас-5» (Испания). В частности, предусмотрено оказание услуг с привлечением сил и средств Минобороны России, допуск иностранных специалистов на связанные с запуском объекты.
КА телекоммуникационного назначения «Амазонас-5» изготовлен фирмой Space Systems Loral (США) по заказу фирмы Hispasat (Испания). Он предназначен для предоставления услуг в области телевидения, корпоративных сетей и телефонной связи на территории Южной и Центральной Америки. После выведения на заданную орбиту КА будет включён в национальный реестр Бразилии.
Все работы по обеспечению запуска КА будут выполнены за счёт внебюджетных источников.

Amazonas 5, which will be located at 61°W, is to be built by SSL. With this new satellite, the HISPASAT Group will be able to meet growing satellite capacity demand, mainly for satellite television platforms in Latin America and Brazil. Moreover, it has Ka band capacity to deal with new Internet connectivity services.

Amazonas 5 has an expected useful life of 15 years and will be built on SSL's 1300 satellite platform. It will have 11.5 kilowatts of power and a multi-mission useful load distributed into:

- 24 Ku-band transponders, which will provide service in two coverage areas:

   1.- Brazil
   2.- Remaining Latin American countries
 
- 34 Ka-band spot beams distributed throughout Latin America.

"Запуск спутника связи "Благовест" запланирован на 17 августа, затем 9 и 28 сентября стартуют ракеты-носители "Протон-М" соответственно с испанским спутником связи Amazonas-5 и китайским спутником связи Asiasat-9", - сказал источник.

На космодроме Байконур стартовала кампания по подготовке к запуску космического аппарата (КА) связи «Амазонас-5» (Amazonas 5) ракетой-носителем (РН) «Протон-М» с разгонным блоком (РБ) «Бриз-М». КА «Амазонас-5» доставлен на космодром 8 августа 2017 года.
 
Контракт на предоставление пусковых услуг для запуска испанского спутника с использованием ракеты-носителя тяжелого класса «Протон-М» и разгонного блока «Бриз-М» заключила компания International Launch Services Inc.  (ILS, Рестон, США), имеющая эксклюзивное право на маркетинг РН «Протон». ILS - дочернее предприятие «Государственного космического научно-производственного центра имени М.В. Хруничева», разработчика и изготовителя РН «Протон» и РБ «Бриз-М».
 
Предстоящий запуск с КА «Амазонас-5», запланированный в сентябре 2017 года должен стать 95–м пуском ракеты-носителя «Протон» в рамках контрактов, заключенных ILS.
 
Телекоммуникационный спутник «Амазонас-5» изготовлен фирмой Space Systems Loral (США) по заказу Hispasat (Испания). Космический аппарат предназначен для предоставления услуг в области телевидения, корпоративных сетей и телефонной связи на территории Южной и Центральной Америки.

The Amazonas 5 satellite for HISPASAT of Madrid, Spain, arrived at the Baikonur Cosmdrome in Kazakhstan aboard an Antonov cargo jet on August 8 in preparation for mission integration and launch aboard an ILS Proton Breeze M launch vehicle in September. The satellite will be used for both video content delivery and internet connectivity, among other services, in Latin America.

The launch of Amazonas 5 will be the 95th ILS Proton mission and the 30th with a Space Systems Loral (SSL) satellite. It will also be 414th Proton mission overall since its maiden flight in 1965. Amazonas 5, based on the SSL 1300 platform, will be located at 61°W longitude and is designed to provide service for 15 years or more. The Proton launch vehicle is developed and manufactured by Khrunichev Space Center, one of the mainstays of the space industry, located in Moscow.

SSL Built Multi-Mission Satellite for Hispasat Arrives at Launch Base

PALO ALTO, Calif. – August 10, 2017 — Space Systems Loral (SSL), a leading provider of innovative satellites and spacecraft systems, today announced that the multi-mission Amazonas 5 satellite, designed and built for HISPASAT, has arrived at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, where it will be launched aboard a Proton Breeze M vehicle provided by International Launch Services (ILS). The satellite will be used for both video content delivery and internet connectivity in Latin America.

Amazonas 5 has 34 Ka-band spot beams and 24 Ku-band transponders, which will be used for broadband internet services, television, corporate networks, and other telecommunications applications in Brazil and Latin America. Based on the SSL 1300 platform, the satellite will be located at 61°W longitude and is designed to provide service for 15 years or more. With this new satellite, the HISPASAT Group will help bridge the digital divide in Latin America and will grow its video neighborhood in the region.

Amazonas 5 is the third satellite that SSL has provided to Hispasat and the company is also building Hispasat 30W-6, which is expected to launch later this year. SSL built Amazonas 3, Latin America's first satellite with a high throughput payload for broadband internet, and Hispasat 30W-5, which was launched in 2010.

WASHINGTON — A satellite that Spanish fleet operator Hispasat ordered in December 2014 largely to replace two Orbital ATK spacecraft has arrived at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan for a Proton launch in September.

Amazonas-5 covers for Amazonas-4A, an Orbital ATK-built satellite that lost capacity due to a power issue in early 2014, and Amazonas-4B, an Orbital ATK satellite that Hispasat cancelled following the previous anomaly. Space Systems Loral in Palo Alto, California, built the Amazonas-5 satellite.

Hispasat said in 2014 that the reduced capacity of Amazonas-4A, since renamed Amazonas-4, didn't impact the company as severely as it could have because the satellite was meant for growth, not as a replacement. Both Amazonas 4A and Amazonas-4B were supposed to be in orbit supporting heightened broadcast demand for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, however.

For International Launch Services (ILS), Amazonas-5 will be the company's second Proton launch of the year. Hispasat spokesperson Iñaki Latasa told SpaceNews Aug. 10 the company does not have an official launch date yet. ILS's third and final 2017 mission, AsiaSat-9, is scheduled for Sept. 28.

Built on the SSL-1300 platform, Amazonas-5 has 24 Ku-band transponders for direct-to-home television broadcasts, and 34 Ka-band spot beams for internet connectivity services. In an Aug. 10 statement, Hispasat said the new satellite "will enable broadcasting 500 new TV channels and will be key in promoting 4K TV in the region."

Amazonas-5 has a design life of 15 years, and will be located at 61 degrees west. SSL is also building Hispasat's 30W-6 satellite (previously known as Hispasat 1F), which is scheduled for a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch later this year.
