ЦитироватьSoyuz integration is fully underway for Arianespace's milestone launch with four O3b Networks satellites

May 23, 2013 – Soyuz Flight VS05

The Soyuz launcher for Arianespace's next medium-lift mission is rapidly taking shape at French Guiana as this vehicle undergoes its build-up for a June flight with the first four satellites in O3b Networks' connectivity constellation.

During activity this week in the Spaceport's MIK launcher integration building for Soyuz, the vehicle's core second stage was completed with the mating of its upper and lower sections.  Today, team members installed two of Soyuz' four first-stage boosters, which are clustered around the core stage.

These integration steps are performed with the Soyuz aligned in horizontal jigs positioned with the MIK facility's floor-level rail system, and will be followed by mating of the launcher's centerline third stage.

Once completed, the Soyuz will be ready for its rollout to the Spaceport's ELS launch pad, where it will be raised to the vertical position – preparing it for integration of the O3b Networks satellite payload, performed with the protection of a 53-meter-tall mobile gantry.

The O3b Networks satellites to be orbited on Arianespace's June 24 mission were built by Thales Alenia Space, and are to be positioned at a medium-Earth orbit altitude of 8,063 km.   Operating in Ka-band, these spacecraft will become part of O3b Networks' system that offers high-speed, low-cost, low-latency Internet and telecommunications services for customers in emerging markets.

This Soyuz flight will be Arianespace's fifth with the medium-lift vehicle from the Spaceport since its introduction at French Guiana in October 2011.  Soyuz is part of the company's complete launcher family, which also includes the heavyweight Ariane 5 and light-lift Vega.

In addition to the first batch of O3b spacecraft to be lofted during the June mission, another Arianespace flight is scheduled to orbit four more later this year for O3b Networks, followed by an additional four in 2014.

The upper and lower segments of Soyuz' core second stage are mated in the Spaceport's MIK launcher integration building.

The distinctive "hammerhead" shape enables Soyuz' four second-stage boosters to be clustered around the core stage, as shown during the installation process.

ЦитироватьArianespace prepares for upcoming Soyuz and Ariane 5 missions at the Spaceport

June 19, 2013 – Flights VS05 and VA214

The launch campaign for Arianespace's upcoming medium-lift Soyuz mission with four trailblazing Internet connectivity satellites is ready for final preparation following encapsulation of the O3b Networks spacecraft at the Spaceport in French Guiana and the launcher's rollout.

In parallel, payload checkout for the Spaceport's subsequent flight – employing a heavy-lift Ariane 5 – has moved into full swing with arrival of the mission's second passenger.

Flight VS05's Soyuz ST-B vehicle is raised on the Spaceport's launch pad, where it will receive its payload of four O3b Networks satellites.

This activity continues the flight pace in French Guiana, building on the resources of Arianespace's three-member launcher family: Ariane 5, Soyuz and Vega.

The Soyuz flight on June 24 – designated VS05 in Arianespace's launcher family numbering system – will have a duration of 2 hours and 22 minutes. Rollout of the three-stage vehicle occurred today, to be followed by payload integration atop the Soyuz.

After the powered phases for the Soyuz ST-B vehicle's first three stages, the Fregat-MT upper stage will perform four burns, allowing deployment of the O3b spacecraft.

The Soyuz' total lift performance for Flight VS05 is estimated at 3,200 kg., which includes a combined mass of approximately 2,800 kg. for the four satellites.

Once operational, these Ka-band relay platforms will initiate the constitution of a satellite constellation to provide telecommunications and Internet services combining high speed and low costs for billions of people across the world who do not yet have adequate internet access.

The encapsulation of O3b Networks' four satellites is shown in these photos. The spacecraft are shown mounted on their dispenser system atop the Fregat upper stage as the first payload fairing half-shell is put in place.

An overhead photo provides another perspective;

while the encapsulation process is completed with the second half-shell.

ЦитироватьO3b Networks' four satellites are integrated on Soyuz for Arianespace's next mission from French Guiana

June 20, 2013 – Soyuz Flight VS05

The fifth Soyuz to be launched from French Guiana is now complete following the integration of its upper composite consisting of four O3b Networks satellites, their protective payload fairing and the Fregat upper stage.

This activity was performed at the Spaceport's ELS launch complex near the town of Sinnamary, beginning with the composite's transfer on a special transporter, followed by hoisting to the upper level of a purpose-built mobile gantry.

Final checkout of the Soyuz is now underway, leading to the Arianespace liftoff planned on Monday, June 24 at precisely 3:53:51 p.m., local time in French Guiana.

The cluster of four O3b Networks satellites to be orbited on Arianespace's upcoming flight will initiate the creation of a next-generation satellite network for telecommunications operators, Internet service providers, enterprise and government customers in emerging markets.

A total of 12 O3b Networks satellites are to be orbited by Arianespace in groups of four, with the next mission planned for later this year, and another in 2014.  These Ka-band relay platforms are produced by Thales Alenia Space, and have a liftoff mass of 700 kg. each.

Говорили что в Куру летает Байконурская бригада Союзы пускать, как же запустят Ресурс на следующий день? С Плесецка привлекут?

LL_

Там, судя по фоторепортажу, таджики (?) русский спутник ДЗЗ готовят...

PIN

The launch at a glance

Following liftoff from the Guiana Space Center, the powered phase of the lower three Soyuz stages will last about nine minutes. The third stage of the launcher will then be separated from the upper composite, comprising the Fregat upper stage and the four O3b satellites. The three lower stages will fall back into the sea.
Fregat will carry out three main powered phases:
• First burn, lasting about 4 minutes, followed by a ballistic phase lasting about 8 minutes and 30 seconds.
• Second burn, lasting about 8 minutes and 30 seconds, followed by a second ballistic phase, lasting one hour and 21 minutes.
• Third burn, lasting about 5 minutes.
One additional burn will be carried out with Attitude Control System (ACS) to inject the satellites on the dedicated orbit.
The satellites will be released two by two, with the first pair being released about two hours after liftoff.
The second pair of satellites will then be released about 22 minutes later. Two successive firings of the Fregat engine will place Fregat into an orbit underneath that of the O3b constellation.
Following satellite separation, Fregat will be inserted on a circular graveyard orbit.

Mission length

The nominal length of the mission, from liftoff to separation of the satellites, is 2 hours and 22 minutes.

The O3b constellation satellites were built by Thales Alenia Space for the O3b Networks Lim ited satellite operator
