The @OrbitalATK #Cygnus cargo ship docked to the @Space_Station earlier this morning. The Spacecraft arrived at the station with approximately 3,35 tons of cargo, supplies and scientific experiments.

"We actually started engaging NASA on this topic in the fall of last year," said Mr. DeMauro.  "We have a large engine on the back of the spacecraft that puts out a lot more thrust [than the 32 maneuvering thrusters on Cygnus], and this is the engine we use for orbit raising burns.
"And so we started talking with NASA at the program office about the possibility of Cygnus providing some form of orbit raising capability using that engine.  And one of the things we decided to do earlier this year is to put this Detailed Test Objective in place and at least work through the process of seeing if we could get that approved by NASA and of course specifically the safety review panel."
The NASA program office showed great interest in this potential capability from Cygnus, and NASA and its safety office have been moving through the process of performing the various analyses needed to ensure that using Cygnus while berthed to the Node-1 nadir port to reboost the ISS does not impart dangerous thrust loads onto the structure of the Station.

The Cygnus resupply ship from Orbital ATK is now open for business and the Expedition 55 crew has begun unloading the 7,400 pounds of cargo it delivered Thursday morning. ...

There are now four spaceships parked at the International Space Station, the newest one having arrived to resupply the crew early Thursday morning. Astronauts Drew Feustel and Norishige Kanai opened Cygnus' hatches shortly after it was installed to the Unity module. The cargo carrier will remain attached to the station until July so the astronauts can offload new supplies and repack Cygnus with trash.

Американский космический грузовик 12 июля впервые приподнимет орбиту МКС
Москва. 9 июня. INTERFAX.RU - Первый в истории маневр Международной космической станции (МКС) при помощи американского космического грузовика будет предпринят в середине июля. Об этом сообщил "Интерфаксу" источник в ракетно-космической отрасли в субботу.
"Американский космический грузовик Cygnus впервые в истории приподнимет орбиту МКС 12 июля", - сказал источник.
Дата выбрана в промежутке между стыковкой российского грузового корабля Прогресс МС-09 и расстыковкой Cygnus.
Если испытания пройдут удачно, коррекция орбиты будет производиться поочередно российскими и американскими кораблями.

Cygnus mission designations are now getting renamed after Orbital ATK was taken over by Northup Grumman.

On the ISS Status, they are now calling the current mission "OA/NG-9". I would suspect the next will be NG-10.

OA-9 Hatch Closure:
The crew has completed loading all trash into the Cygnus vehicle and have closed both the Cygnus and N1 Nader hatches; in this configuration, the crew can temp-stow cargo in the N1 Deck 2 (NO1D2) area. Power and data cables to the spacecraft will remain connected, however, until closer to the planned unberth date of 15-July.

Москва. 4 июля. INTERFAX.RU - Частный американский космический грузовик через неделю впервые в истории "приподнимет" орбиту Международной космической станции, сообщил "Интерфаксу" источник в ракетно-космической отрасли.
"Назначено время маневра. Двигатели корабля Cygnus, пристыкованного к МКС, будут запущены в 23:25 по Москве 10 июля", - сказал источник.
Маневр займет одну минуту. "Ожидается выдача импульса 6 см/c. При этом орбита станции увеличится на 100 м", - сказал источник.
Ранее сообщалось о переносе маневра на два дня раньше запланированного на 12 июля маневра.
Дата выбрана в промежутке между стыковкой российского грузового корабля "Прогресс МС-09" и расстыковкой Cygnus.
"Маневр при помощи американского корабля будет произведен через 15 часов после стыковки российского космического грузовика с МКС", - сказал источник...
