Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard A. Resnick, who is handling the case, stated that according to the complaint, the defendant was a Quality Assurance Engineer at PMI Industries, LLC, a Rochester aerospace precision machining service, specializing in high-tolerance machining for flight critical aerospace parts used to build space flight vehicles by SpaceX and other Department of Defense aerospace contractors. Smalley began his employment at PMI on March 6, 2017, working on contracts for SpaceX, which developed the Falcon launch vehicle family and the Dragon spacecraft family. Falcon and Dragon both currently deliver payloads into Earth orbit for NASA, the Air Force, other United States government agencies and private industry. SQA Services, Inc. (SQA) is a subcontractor to SpaceX, and provides multiple quality assurance functions within the aerospace and defense manufacturing industries.

The complaint states that in January 2018, an internal audit by SQA Services, Inc. (SQA), at the direction of SpaceX, revealed multiple falsified source inspection reports and non-destructive testing (NDT) certifications from PMI Industries, LLC, for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy flight critical parts. SpaceX notified PMI of the anomalies. Source inspections and NDT are key tools used in the aerospace industry to ensure manufactured parts comply with quality and safety standards. Specifically, the signed source inspection report had a forged signature of the SQA inspector. SpaceX and SQA officials believed the signature of the inspector was photocopied and cut and pasted onto the source inspection report with a computer.

On February 16, 2018, the NASA Launch Services Program alerted the NASA Office of Inspector General (OIG), and Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Resident Agency, regarding the falsified source inspection reports and false NDT certifications created by PMI. Some of the false source inspection reports and false NDT certifications were related to space launch vehicle components that, at the time of discovery, were to be used for the upcoming Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission, which launched from a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on April 18, 2018.

The investigation has identified that Smalley, while an employee of PMI, falsified at least 38 source inspection reports for space vehicle parts procured by SpaceX for the construction of the Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy series of space vehicles.  The investigation has also identified at least 76 individual piece parts that were rejected during source inspection or were never inspected by SQA, then subsequently shipped to SpaceX.

A records request from SpaceX identified seven NASA space flight missions, two United States Air Force space flight missions, and one National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) space flight mission that were affected by parts purchased by SpaceX from PMI.

Subsequently, SpaceX terminated its business relationship with PMI averaged approximately $200,000 per month from the business with SpaceX, as a disqualified supplier. PMI subsequently closed its operation.

Both recovered #Starlink payload fairings sailed into @PortCanaveral this morning at 1030 AM ET 5/26 aboard GO NAVIGATOR & GO SEARCHER from 5/23 #SpaceX launch. They passed by Mr Steven and 2 mock @SpaceX Crew Dragons before berthing side by side.

A lightly redacted copy of SpaceX's complaint was then filed on May 22, accusing the Air Force of arbitrarily rejecting its LSA proposal, which included the operational Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets for all missions slated before late 2025 and the new Starship (previously known as Big Falcon Rocket, or BFR) for "a tiny fraction" of national security space launches no earlier than 2025.

The Air Force's source selection board "nonetheless determined that SpaceX's one developmental launch vehicle rendered the entire SpaceX portfolio 'highest risk' and chose the portfolio that best served the needs of ULA, the long-standing incumbent," SpaceX wrote in its complaint. "This appraisal of risk is counter to the stated evaluation criteria and, by any objective measure, unreasonable."

"The requirements in the [LSP] request for proposals are significantly harder than what were in the prior set," ULA CEO Tory Bruno tells Aviation Week. "There are more reference missions, and they are harder. Generally, the [payload] masses are bigger and the orbits are more difficult to reach and more complex."

Shotwell dismissed rumors that the Falcon fleet would not be able to meet all of the LSP reference orbits, noting that the only development effort needed is a longer payload fairing for the Falcon Heavy to handle two of the nine sample missions. "That part is not rocket science," says Shotwell. "It's been in our plans, so technically and schedule-wise we're in much better shape than our competitors are for this procurement."

The platform used to dock #OCISLY has been moved west in front of the other container crane. They still need to move the stand they sit it on when it's lifted off and the crane. Should be interesting to see the new configuration in action. #SpaceX @SpaceXFleet

SpaceX have had to vacate their dock at Port Canaveral for today. @PortCanaveral have 6 cruise ships inbound but only 5 cruise terminals.

The Norwegian Dawn cruise ship is about to dock where OCISLY normally lives. The yellow crane and dockside equipment has all been moved back.

В порт прибывает шестой круизный лайнер, а причалов для них только пять. Поэтому OCISLY пришлось переставить. На его место поставят лайнер. Краны тоже уберут.

В понедельник (день памяти, 27 мая) порт Канаверал принял 6 круизных судов. Наличие 6 круизных лайнеров в порту в один и тот же день случалось только дважды за 65-летнюю историю порта - в феврале и марте 2015 года.
На этот раз Порт Канаверал должен был использовать Северный грузовой причал 5 (грузовой терминал) для размещения одного из судов, поскольку бывший Круизный терминал 3 порта Канаверал был снесен, а новый Круизный терминал 3 в настоящее время находится в стадии строительства.

По словам Стива Линдена, директора по коммуникациям и связям с общественностью, в понедельник более 6 000 пассажиров круизных судов сели на 6 лайнеров или сошли с них.
В порту порта Канаверал в понедельник прошли карнавал « Радость и свобода» ; Дисней «s сон ; Норвежский «s Дон и ВС ; Royal Caribbean «s Mariner морей . Norwegian Dawn заходил в порт Канаверал, в то время как остальные 5 кораблей находятся там.
Т.е. все для людей, а не для скрепов. Тем более "В 2017 году бренд NCL имел долю мирового круизного рынка 8,7% (пассажиры) и 8,4% (выручка)."
