New video satellites ready for launch pad

ЦитироватьThree new JILIN-1 Agile Video Satellites produced by the Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co Ltd left the factory on Friday in Changchun, Northeast China's Jilin province, according to the company. The company plans to send them into space in November from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, which will bring the number of satellites manufactured and launched by the company to eight.

Researchers greatly improved the temporal resolution of the new satellites, reducing the visiting time (the length of time it takes for the orbiting satellite to fly by a certain point) from three days to one day, which will greatly upgrade service ability and promote marketing in sensing satellites.

According to the company, it will have 10 satellites operational by the end of 2017, and 60 satellites in service by 2020, which will ultimately make it possible to offer a 10-minute revisit capability of satellites anywhere in the world.

The first group of the JILIN-1 satellite networking project, China's first self-made, high-resolution remote-sensing satellite for commercial use was launched and put into service in October 2015. It is China's first self R&D high-resolution commercial satellite, China's first self R&D integral satellite and China's first R&D high definition video satellite. It is also the first satellite to be named after a province.

The second Long March 6 rocket carrying three Jilin-1 satellites lifts off from Taiyuan at 12:50 local time on November 21, 2017. CASC

China on Tuesday launched a Long March 6 light-lift rocket carrying three Jilin-1 commercial Earth observation satellites, marking a step in large constellation plans and launch vehicle reusability.
Launch took place at 04:50 UTC (12:50 local time) at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre, sending the three video satellites - Lingqiao 04, 05 and 06 - to Sun-synchronous orbit (SSO).

The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) confirmed launch success more than an hour later, making it China's 13th orbital launch of 2017 and the 255th Long March launch overall.

The launch was the second for the Long March 6, which had its maiden flight in September 2015, and was developed alongside the medium and heavy-lift Long March 7 and 5 launch vehicles.

The 29.3 metre-high Long March 6 uses cryogenic kerosene and liquid oxygen propellant and was developed from the boosters for the Long March 5. It is capable of carrying a payload of 1,080 kg to a 700 km SSO.

The three satellites launched today add to five Jilin-1 series imaging and video satellites already launched in 2015 and earlier this year.

The satellites are developed by Chinese commercial satellite maker Chang Guang Satellite (CGST), an offshoot of Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics (CIOMP), based in the northeastern province of Jilin, for which the satellites are named.

The large constellation of satellites is designed to offer high-resolution imaging, video, multispectral and wide swath coverage of the ground from low Earth orbit, providing remote-sensing data support to areas including land resources monitoring, land surveying and mapping, mineral resources development, smart city construction, agriculture yield estimation, environmental monitoring, disaster prevention and other areas.

Clients so far including public customers, particularly those involved in areas of forestry, agriculture and security, according to CGST.

This aim is to both fill a gap in remote sensing domestically and provide a boost to the struggling, formerly heavy industry-based economy in Northeast China.

Zhong Xing, chief designer of the Jilin-1 satellites, told CCTV that as well as sending five more satellites into orbit by the end of 2017, Chang Guang Satellite satellites in orbit will "total 60 by 2020 and finally 138."

This would facilitate 30-minute revisit capability anywhere around the globe by 2020, with temporal resolution down to ten minute revisits by 2030.

China launches three commercial remote sensing satellites

ЦитироватьTAIYUAN, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- China launched three remote sensing satellites at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province.

The three satellites -- Jilin-1 04, Jilin-1 05 and Jilin-1 06 -- carried cameras designed to improve observation capability to promote commercial use for the remote sensing industry.

It was the third launch of the Jilin-1 satellite family, a remote sensing system of more than 60 satellites developed by Chang Guang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd.

The system will be used for wide imaging, video imaging and multispectral imaging. Remote sensing data will serve administrations and commercial customers.

Tuesday's satellites were carried by a Long March-6 rocket, a new generation of China's liquid-fueled carrier rocket developed by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

The launch is the second mission of the Long March-6 and the 255th flight carried out with the Long-March series of carrier rockets.

Об этом сообщил информационный портал Sina.
