Американцы отстрелялись в этом году. Хорошая точка для завершения космического года. Правда, летать Эхостару-19 в качестве самого мощного ретранслятора где-то всего полгода - спихнет его с этого пьедестала Виасат-2 .

НЬЮ-ЙОРК, 18 декабря. /Корр. ТАСС Алексей Качалин/. Американская компания United Launch Alliance осуществила в воскресенье запуск с космодрома на мысе Канаверал (штат Флорида) ракеты-носителя Atlas V со спутником связи EchoStar 19. Об этом объявила United Launch Alliance.

По ее оценке, старт прошел успешно. Однако судя по записям в микроблоге Twitter корпорации, запуск прошел более чем с часовым опозданием. Причиной названа техническая неполадка.

EchoStar 19 - мощный геостационарный спутник связи, изготовленный компанией Space Systems/Loral по заказу ведущего глобального оператора спутниковой связи EchoStar Corporation (США). Спутник гражданского назначения предназначен для обеспечения доступа к высокоскоростному интернету для жителей и частных предприятий в Северной Америке.

Как уточнила United Launch Alliance, это был 68-й пуск тяжелых ракет Atlas V. Теперь на счету компании 115 запусков за 10 лет существования и 12 за этот год.

Atlas V - американская одноразовая ракета космического назначения. Принадлежит к семейству ракет Atlas, которое было создано в 1960-х гг. на базе первой американской межконтинентальной баллистической ракеты SM-65 Atlas (находилась на вооружении США до 1965 г.). Предназначена для запуска различных космических аппаратов, в том числе военного назначения (около 70% запусков - правительственные заказы).

Placed into geostationary orbit at 22,236 miles (35,786 kilometers) above the earth, the world's highest capacity broadband satellite was successfully launched on aUnited Launch Alliance Atlas V from the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida on December 18, 2016, and extensive in-orbit testing was completed in an extremely efficient manner.
