#Falcon9 now heading out of ground station range. Deployment of the #SpaceX MicroSats occurs out of comms, Stage 2 will be tasked with a deorbit burn after the two prototypes are on their way.

Per documentation, the two MicroSats are to employ onboard propulsion to maneuver into a 1,125km orbit to begin 6-12 months of daily testing sessions of the Earth-to-Space, Space-to-Space and Space-to-Earth links needed for the Starlink constellation. http://bit.ly/2EUHZ2E

Update on Mr. Steven: He headed east at 13 knots during launch. His general direction then changed to the north east. At 6:42 local he was traveling at 10 knots. Not enough data to know if there were tight turning maneuvers and significant changes in speed.

Update on Mr. Steven: The turn to the northeast occurred after Elon tweeted that the parafoil had deployed (most likely shortly after). The turn was also in the direction of port, but the speed was below Mr. Steven's normal cruising speed. Waiting for next data report.

Missed by a few hundred meters, but fairing landed intact in water. Should be able catch it with slightly bigger chutes to slow down descent.

SpaceX chief Elon Musk says the Falcon 9 rocket's payload shroud landed in the Pacific Ocean near a boat that tried to retrieve it. Bigger parachutes could improve the chances of an on-target landing on future attempts. https://spaceflightnow.com/2018/02/16/falcon-9-paz-mission-status-center/ ...

Musk on next fairing recovery attempt. Roughly aligns with March 20 target launch date for next batch of Iridium sats from Vandenberg.
