МОСКВА, 16 июл - РИА Новости. Американские астронавты Эндрю Морган и Джессика Меир и итальянский Лука Пармитано, отправляющиеся на МКС в этом году, попросили привезти им на станцию российские продукты питания на грузовом корабле "Прогресс МС-12", сообщил РИА Новости во вторник заведующий отделом питания Института медико-биологических проблем РАН Александр Агуреев.

Запуск корабля "Прогресс МС-12" ракетой-носителем "Союз-2.1а" с космодрома Байконур намечается на 31 июля в 15.10 мск, стыковка со станцией - в 18.35 мск.

"На корабле "Прогресс МС-12" планируется привезти на МКС российские продукты питания для астронавтов Пармитано (три контейнера), Моргана (четыре) и Меир (четыре)", - сказал Агуреев, добавив, что это бонусные контейнеры, которые поставляются дополнительно к основному рациону питания.

Он отметил, что среди заказанных астронавтами российских продуктов питания - говядина с пряным рисом, мясо цыплят с рисом, мясо с перловой кашей, компот из груш, молоко, ряженка, творог с орехами, свинина рубленая с яйцом, карбонат, телятина с овощами, сыр "Южный", сок абрикосовый, персиковый, яблочный, виноградный и сливовый.

Пармитано и Морган полетят на МКС вместе с российским космонавтом Александром Скворцовым на пилотируемом корабле "Союз МС-13". Его запуск ракетой "Союз-ФГ" с Байконура планируется на 20 июля в 19.28 мск, стыковка с МКС - на 21 июля в 1.50 мск.Меир отправится на МКС вместе с российским космонавтом Олегом Скрипочкой и первым астронавтом ОАЭ Хаззаа аль-Мансури на корабле "Союз МС-15" 25 сентября.

В настоящее время экипаж МКС состоит из российского космонавта Алексея Овчинина и американских астронавтов Кристины Кук и Ника Хейга.

Muscle Tone in Space (Myotones):


The crew gathered hardware for tomorrow's scheduled Myotones operations. The investigation observes the biochemical properties of muscles during long-term exposure to the spaceflight environment. Results from this investigation are expected to provide insight into principles of human resting muscle tone which could lead to the development of new strategies for alternative treatments for rehabilitation both on Earth and for future space missions.

EXpedite the PRocessing of Experiments for Space Station Racks (EXPRESS Rack) 9B:


During the SpX-17 mission, Columbus Power and Data Unit (PDU) 1 Outlet 7 which provides auxiliary power to the rack, tripped and could not be closed. Troubleshooting was unsuccessful and it was determined that the Biological Research Program Solid State Power Control Module (BSSPCM) needed to be replaced. Today the crew replaced the BSSPCM Sold State Power Converter Module to recover auxiliary power. The EXPRESS Racks support science experiments in any discipline by providing structural interfaces, power, data, cooling, water, and other items needed to operate science experiments in space.

Robotics Onboard Trainer (ROBoT) Dragon On-Board Training (OBT):


In preparation for SpX-18 arrival, the crew practiced a 30 meter approach, two Capture Point hold runs and numerous two meter runs. Later in the day the crew studied the OBT big picture and reference summary. SpX-18 is scheduled to launch on July 21 and berth on July 23.

Mobile Servicing System (MSS) Operations:


Yesterday, Robotics Ground Controllers powered up the MSS and performed a survey of the future International Docking Assembly (IDA3) EVA worksite. The SSRMS was then maneuvered to the Offset Grapple Start position and is now in ready for crew offset grapple practice on Thursday in preparation for SpX-18 berthing.

The International Space Station is set to receive a few more crewmembers on Saturday followed by a new docking port next Tuesday. Meanwhile, the orbiting Expedition 60 residents serviced a multitude of science hardware today while maintaining communication and life support systems.


The Soyuz MS-13 spacecraft that will launch three new residents to the station on Saturday is being processed at its facility at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Astronauts Drew Morgan and Luca Parmitano and cosmonaut Alexander Skvortsov inspected their spacecraft during a walk-through today. The trio will blast off Saturday at 12:28 p.m. EDT and take a six-and-a-half hour trip to their new home in space.


Another spacecraft, the SpaceX Dragon resupply ship, is being readied for its liftoff Sunday at 7:35 p.m. from Florida. It will arrive at the station Tuesday for its capture at 7 a.m. by NASA Flight Engineers Nick Hague and Christina Koch with the Canadarm2 robotic arm.


After Dragon's installation to the Unity module, the crew will unload brand new science gear for advanced biology research to improve human health. Robotics controllers will detach the new International Docking Adapter-3 (IDA-3) from the back of Dragon and position it on the space-facing side of the Harmony module in preparation for its installation during a future spacewalk. The IDA-3 is another docking port supporting future commercial crew missions with Boeing and SpaceX crew vehicles.


Koch stowed and relocated a pair of biology and botany facilities today. She powered down several rodent habitats and packed them up for return on the Dragon space freighter. Koch then relocated the Veggie botany facility to the Columbus laboratory module after last week's lettuce harvest in the Unity module.


Hague and Koch started the day with body measurements for the Myotonesmuscle study to benefit rehabilitation treatments for astronauts and Earthlings. Hague then set up and inspected a fluorescence microscope that can observe cellular changes in microgravity.


Commander Alexey Ovchinin set up a video camera in the Zvezda service module to record the arrival of his new crewmates on Saturday. He later checked air and temperature sensors and swapped out air filters on the Russian side of the orbital lab.

Multi-purpose Small Payload Rack (MSPR):
The crew performed the Florescence Microscope setup and inserted a test sample in preparation for upcoming Space Moss activities following SpX-18 arrival. The MSPR is a multipurpose payload rack system used in the JEM. It has two workspaces and a worktable that can be used for wide fields of space environment utilization including science and educational missions.

Rodent Research-17 (RR-17):
The crew stowed Rodent Habitats 2, 3, and 4. RR-17 uses younger and older mice as model organisms to evaluate the physiological, cellular and molecular effects of the spaceflight environment. Some responses to spaceflight in humans and model organisms such as mice resemble accelerated aging. This investigation provides a better understanding of aging-related immune, bone, and muscle disease processes, which may lead to new therapies for use in space and on Earth.

Veg-04A:
Veggie facilities 1 and 2 were relocated from Express Rack (ER) 3 to ER 9B. Veg-04A, Veg-04B, and Veg-05 investigation is a phased research project to address the need for a continuous fresh-food production system in space. A healthy, nutritious diet is essential for long-duration exploration missions, which means that the typical pre-packaged astronaut diet needs to be supplemented by fresh foods during flight. Veggie has begun testing onboard the ISS to help meet this need, and validation tests have demonstrated that leafy greens can be grown in spaceflight. The research of Veg-04A focuses on the impact of light quality and fertilizer on leafy crop growth for a 28-day grow-out, microbial food safety, nutritional value, taste acceptability by the crew, and the overall behavioral health benefits of having plants and fresh food in space.

Joint Station Local Area Network (JSL LAN) Version 12.0 Deployment:
This afternoon, ground teams will load JSL Version 12.0 onboard ISS. This version of JSL will update IT security, incorporate manual changes since JSL 11.1, update new infrastructure to accommodate the subnet for External High Definition Cameras (EHDC) and High Definition EVA Camera Assemblies (HECA). Tomorrow Office 365 will be loaded onto the Station Support Computers (SSCs) in preparation for the Soyuz 59 crew arrival. The remaining ISS SSCs will be loaded with Office 365 next week.

The Earth's limb and the atmospheric glow highlight the thin blue atmosphere back lit by the Sun's rays during a period between night and day. The light of the moon and the starry Milky Way drape the background as the International Space Station orbited 257 miles above the Pacific Ocean between Hawaii and Mexico.Three Expedition 60 crewmates aboard the International Space Station spent the day servicing a variety of research hardware. Back on Earth, three different rockets are preparing to replenish the orbiting lab with a new crew and more science and supplies.


NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Nick Hague have been working on an array of science gear today supporting numerous advanced microgravity experiments.


Koch installed the HERMES facility researching the dynamics of asteroid and planetary surfaces with no atmospheres. She then checked out the Photobioreactor that explores microalgae as a means to support hybrid life support systems.


Hague was over in the Kibo laboratory module this morning configuring backup software for the Japanese robotic arm that maneuvers external experiments. After lunch, Hague replaced gear inside the Combustion Integrated Rack to support safe flame and fuel research in space.


The orbiting laboratory is gearing up for a high traffic period at the end of July. Two new Russian spaceships and a U.S. cargo craft will be occupying three different ports bringing the station crew up to full speed.


Saturday will see the launch and arrival of three new Flight Engineers aboard the Soyuz MS-13 crew ship. Astronauts Drew Morgan and Luca Parmitano and cosmonaut Alexander Skvortsov will lift off Saturday at 12:28 p.m. EDT from Kazakhstan and dock to the Zvezda service module at 6:50 p.m.


Next, the SpaceX Dragon resupply ship is scheduled to launch from Florida at Sunday at 7:35 p.m. Hague and Koch will be at the helm of the robotics workstation in the cupola to capture Dragon on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Canadarm2 robotic arm.


Finally, Russia's Progress 73 (73P) space freighter will replace the Progress 72 when it departs the Pirs docking compartment July 29. The 73P is due to blast off July 31 on a short two-orbit trip before automatically docking to Pirs with food, fuel and supplies for the station inhabitants.

NASA to Broadcast Next Space Station Resupply Launch, Prelaunch Activities

NASA commercial cargo provider SpaceX is targeting 7:35 p.m. EDT Sunday, July 21, for the launch of its 18th agency-contracted resupply mission to the International Space Station. Live coverage will begin on NASA Television and the agency's website Sunday with prelaunch events.





The Dragon spacecraft will deliver supplies and critical materials to directly support dozens of the more than 250 science and research investigations that will occur during Expeditions 60 and beyond. In addition to bringing research to station, the Dragon's unpressurized trunk is carrying the International Docking Adapter-3 (IDA-3), which, when installed on the space station, will provide the microgravity laboratory with two common ports enabling expanded opportunities for visiting vehicles, including new spacecraft designed to carry humans for NASA's Commercial Crew Program.





Dragon will dock to the space station Tuesday, July 23. When it arrives, NASA astronaut Nick Hague will grapple Dragon with NASA astronaut Christina Koch acting as a backup. NASA's Andrew Morgan will assist the duo by monitoring telemetry during Dragon's approach. The station crew will monitor Dragon vehicle functions during rendezvous. After Dragon capture, mission control in Houston will send ground commands for the station's arm to rotate and install it on the bottom of the station's Harmony module.

    • Ken Shields, chief operating officer for the International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory, will discuss the lab's work in advancing science in space, and in developing partnerships that drive industrialization through microgravity research.
    • Gene Boland, chief scientist at Techshot, Inc., and Ken Church, chief executive officer at nScrypt, will discuss the BioFabrication Facility, which is designed to print organ-like tissues in microgravity, acting as a stepping- stone in a long-term plan to manufacture whole human organs in space using refined biological 3D printing techniques.
    • George Papakonstantopoulos, principal scientist at Goodyear Tire, will discuss pushing the limits of silica fillers for tire applications. A better understanding of silica morphology and the relationship between silica structure and its properties could improve the silica design process, silica rubber formulation, and tire manufacturing and performance on the ground.
    • Valentina Fossati  from the New York Stem Foundation Research Institute and Andres Bratt-Leal from Aspen Neuroscience, will discuss the Space Tango – Induced Stem Cells investigation, wh ere cells from patients with Parkinson's disease and Multiple Sclerosis will be cultured on the space station to examine cell to cell interactions that occur in neurodegenerative disease.
    • Rasha Hammamieh, principal investigator from the United States Army and Melissa Kacena, co-investigator at Indiana University School of Medicine, will discuss the Cell Science-02 investigation comparing the ability of two different bone inducing growth factors, one novel and one currently used in bone healing therapies, to stimulate growth, differentiation and related cellular functions of osteoblast in the microgravity environment.
    • Jason August, manager of the International Space Station  Mission Evaluation Room, will discuss the International Docking Adapter-3 (IDA-3), wh ere Boeing's CST-100 Starliner and SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft will dock in the near future when bringing astronauts to the station as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program.

    Saibo Experiment Rack Clean Bench (CB) Checkout:
    The crew completed the yearly relief valve check of the CB in the JAXA Saibo Rack. Saibo includes a Clean Bench glovebox with microscope that isolates the organisms being studied, and Cell Biology Experiment Facility (CBEF) that includes incubator and centrifuges.

    Hermes Facility:
    The crew installed the HERMES facility and Space Acceleration Measurement System (SAMS) tri-axial sensor heads (TSH). Hermes is an experimental microgravity facility that enables science experiments, microgravity exposure testing, testing of engineering components, testing of CubeSats, concept trials, and any payloads that fit within the Hermes design and operations constraints. It is open to any investigation that benefits fr om microgravity exposure.

    Combustion Integration Rack (CIR)/Advanced Combustion via Microgravity Experiments (ACME) /Flame Design:
    The crew replaced the igniter tip which burned out this week to complete the final Flame Design runs. The investigation studies the production and control of soot to optimize oxygen-enriched combustion and the design of robust, soot-free flames. Soot can adversely affect efficiency, emissions, and equipment lifetime, so this may lead to more efficient and cleaner burner designs. The experiment is conducted with spherical flames of gaseous fuels in the CIR as part of the ACME project.

    Photobioreactor (PBR):
    The crew performed troubleshooting for the Photobioreactor by powering up the unit from a different locker power port. Today the life support systems that sustain astronauts in space are based on physicochemical processes. The Photobioreactor investigation aims at demonstrating that microalgae (i.e. biological processes) can be used together with existing systems to improve recycling of resources, creating a hybrid life support system. This hybrid approach could be helpful in future long-duration exploration missions, as it could reduce the amount of consumables required from Earth, and will first be tested in space on the ISS.

    Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) Laptop Relocation:
    The AMS laptop was located in Columbus Express Rack (ER)1 wh ere the Payload Ethernet Hub Gateway (PEHG) will be upgraded to an improved PEHG. The laptop must remain continuously powered to retain collected data. Today the crew relocated the laptop to Columbus ER3 which will provide continuous power.

NASA astronaut Drew Morgan will embark on his first space mission with veteran station residents Luca Parmitano and Alexander Skvortsov.


    The Expedition 60-61 trio from the United States, Italy and Russia, is lifting off Saturday at 12:28 p.m. EDT aboard the Soyuz MS-13 spacecraft. They will dock less than six-and-a-half hours later to the Zvezda service module 50 years to the day NASA first landed humans on the Moon.


    About two-and-a-half hours later the Soyuz and station hatches will open and they will enter their new home in space. NASA astronauts Nick Hague and Christina Koch and station Commander Alexey Ovchinin of Roscosmos will greet their new crewmates then hold a ceremony with family, friends and mission officials on the ground.


    NASA TV is broadcasting all the activities live with launch coverage beginning Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Docking coverage begins at 6 p.m. as the Soyuz begins its approach with the orbiting lab. Finally, NASA TV's live coverage of the hatch opening and crew welcoming ceremony begins at 8 p.m.

    Запуск пилотируемого корабля "Союз МС-13" ракетой-носителем "Союз-ФГ" с космодрома Байконур планируется на 20 июля в 19.28 мск. На нём на МКС полетят россиянин Александр Скворцов, итальянец Лука Пармитано и американец Эндрю Морган. Стыковка корабля "Союз МС-13" со станцией намечается на 21 июля в 1.51 мск.

    The crew opened the vacuum valve and closed the circuit breakers to the SAMS Tri-axial Sensor Heads (TSH) in preparation for Hermes Operations. Hermes is an experimental microgravity facility that enables science experiments, microgravity exposure testing, testing of engineering components, testing of CubeSats, concept trials, and any payloads that fit within the Hermes design and operations constraints. It is open to any investigation that benefits from microgravity exposure.

    Materials Science Laboratory (MSL):
    The crew replaced the motor valve and initiated a water loop check on the MSL facility. The MSL is used for basic materials research in the microgravity environment of the ISS. The MSL can accommodate and support diverse Experiment Modules. In this way, many material types, such as metals, alloys, polymers, semiconductors, ceramics, crystals, and glasses, can be studied to discover new applications for existing materials and new or improved materials.

    • Commercial Orbital Transport Services (COTS) UHF Communication Unit (CUCU) Checkout: The crew coordinated with ground teams to activate the CUCU System and performed a Crew Command Panel (CCP) checkout. CUCU provides a command and telemetry communications link between ISS and Dragon during free flight operations near ISS.
    • On-Board Training (OBT) Dragon Offset Grapple: The crew performed this OBT to practice grapple approaches during which the crew maneuvered over the pin to practice pulling the trigger once in the grapple envelope. Training points included how to best manage volumetric constraints in the Cupola, how lighting on the grapple fixture changes and how light varies inside the Cupola.

    Thermal Amine Scrubber (TAS) Troubleshooting:
    Overnight, ground teams performed a blower test at different speeds to characterize the current profile following the high current faults that were experienced a day prior.  Teams will review the TAS data to determine a forward plan.

    Three new Expedition 60 crewmembers are just one day away from launching and joining the space residents aboard the International Space Station. Meanwhile, the orbiting trio worked on space biology hardware today while their crewmates on Earth completed final launch preparations in Kazakhstan.


    Two different life science facilities onboard the station are being serviced today to support upcoming research into microgravity's effect on biological systems. NASA astronaut Nick Hague ensured the Cell Biology Experiment Facility is airtight to contain the high humidity necessary for the Space Moss botany study. NASA Flight Engineer Christina Koch set up power to the Life Science Glovebox for the Cell Science-02 healing and tissue regeneration experiment.


    The duo handled a variety of other station tasks today, including Hague reconfiguring the Kibo laboratory module's robotic  arm backup drive system and testing new station lights. Koch loaded new software on a science laptop computer then replaced components in the station's restroom, the Waste and Hygiene Compartment.


    Station Commander Alexey Ovchinin had a light duty day in space mostly cleaning station hardware in the Russian segment. In the evening, he joined both astronauts reviewing emergency procedures for the arrival of a new crew on Saturday.


    NASA astronaut Drew Morgan is launching Saturday at 12:28 p.m. EDT inside the Soyuz MS-13 spacecraft on his first space mission. He joins veteran station residents Luca Parmitano and Alexander Skvortsov for their historic mission lifting off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. They will dock to the space station's Zvezda service module at 6:50 p.m. 50 years to the day Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first walked on the Moon.
