NEW DELHI: The Space Commission has given approval to Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) to develop a semi-croygenic engine, which will increase the lifting capability of its GSLV Mk III rocket by one tonne.
 
Talking to TOI about the new project, Isro chairman K Sivan said, "After a presentation before the Space Commission, Isro has got the approval for developing the semi-cryogenic rocket stage. The deadline to develop this stage is 29 months. Once the stage is ready, the carrying capability of GSLV Mk III will increase from the existing four tonnes to five tonnes."
 
Explaining the project, Sivan said, "A GSLV Mk III rocket comprises two strap-on boosters (to provide thrust during a launch), middle stage that carries liquid fuel nitrogen tetroxide and unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine, and the second stage, which consists of a cryogenic engine. Once the semicryogenic stage is developed, we will simply replace the middle liquid fuel stage with it. The new stage is likely to be an exact fit and the rocket will look like the earlier one from outside."
 
He said, "The first launch of Isro's heaviest rocket GSLV Mk III DI last year carried 3.1 tonne weight. The second launch of Mk III D2, scheduled in July this year and which will carry Gsat-29 satellite, will have the load capability of 3.7 tonnes. We can easily raise the weight up to 4 tonne. With the semicryogenic stage, the same rocket will be able to carry the load up to five tonne. With the increased capability, we don't have to depend on foreign spaceports to launch our satellites weighing over 5 tonnes."

శ్రీహరికోట, న్యూస్‌టుడే: భారత అంతరిక్ష పరిశోధన సంస్థ (ఇస్రో) జియోసింక్రనస్‌ ఉపగ్రహ ప్రయోగ వాహక నౌక (జీఎస్‌ఎల్‌వీ)-మార్క్‌3డీ2 ప్రయోగానికి సన్నాహాలు చేస్తోంది. శ్రీ పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు నెల్లూరు జిల్లాలోని సతీశ్‌ ధవన్‌ అంతరిక్ష కేంద్రం షార్‌ నుంచి ఈ నెల 14న ఈ రాకెట్‌ని ప్రయోగిస్తున్న విషయం తెలిసిందే. ప్రయోగానికి ముందు నిర్వహించే రిహార్సల్‌ కార్యక్రమాన్ని ఆదివారం చేపట్టనున్నారు. సోమవారం రాకెట్‌ సన్నద్ధత సమావేశం (ఎంఆర్‌ఆర్‌), లాంచ్‌ ఆథరైజేషన్‌ బోర్డు (ల్యాబ్‌) సమీక్ష జరగనుంది. మంగళవారం మధ్యాహ్నం 3.38 గంటలకు కౌంట్‌డౌన్‌ ప్రారంభం అవుతుంది.  ఈ వాహక నౌక 3,600 కిలోల బరువైన జీశాట్‌-29 ఉపగ్రహాన్ని కక్ష్యలోకి మోసుకెళుతుంది. ప్రధానమంత్రి డిజిటల్‌ ఇండియా కార్యక్రమంలో భాగంగా జీశాట్‌-29 ఉపగ్రహాన్ని ప్రయోగిస్తున్నారు. దీని ద్వారా గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాలకు (విలేజ్‌ రిసోర్స్‌ సెంటర్లకు) హైస్పీడ్‌ అంతర్జాల సేవలను చేరువ చేయాలనేది లక్ష్యం.

Сегодня репетиция GSLV-Mark3 D2
Шрихарикота, обновленно: Индийская организация космических исследований (ISRO) планирует запустить ракету-носитель GSLV Mark3 D2. Ракета должна быть запущена в среду, 14 ноября, из Космического центра им. Сатиша Дхавана, недалеко от Неллора. Репетиция пуска будет проведена в воскресенье. По итогам репетиции в понедельник состоится совещание по готовности ракеты-носителя к полёту (MRR), также будут рассмотрены вопросы авторского надзора. Обратный отсчет начнется в 03:38 во вторник. Ракета-носитель должна вывести на орбиту спутник GSAT-29 массой 3600 кг. Премьер-министр запустит спутник GSAT-29 в рамках программы "Цифровая Индия". Спутник предназначен для обеспечения сельских районов доступом к высокоскоростным интернет-услугам.

The GSLV MkIII-D2 mission is scheduled to launch India's high throughput communication satellite, GSAT-29 tentatively on November 14, 2018 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR, Sriharikota subject to weather conditions.

GSLV MkIII-D2 will inject the satellite into GTO with required inclination to the equator. The satellite will be placed in its final Geostationary Orbit (GEO) using the onboard propulsion system. It may take few days after separation from launcher to reach its orbital slot.

GSLV MkIII is a three-stage heavy lift launch vehicle developed by ISRO. The vehicle has two solid strap-ons as first stage, a liquid propellant core as second stage and a cryogenic as third stage. GSLV Mk III is designed to carry 4 ton class of satellites into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) or about 10 tons to Low Earth Orbit (LEO), which is about twice the capability of GSLV Mk II.



GSAT-29 is a communication satellite weighing 3423 kg. The spacecraft will be located at 55 °E longitude and designed for a mission life of 10 years.

Amid cyclone, rain threat, ISRO readies of GSLV-MkIII/GSAT-29 mission on Nov 14

Chennai, Nov 12 (UNI) The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) would launch its high throughput communication satellite GSAT-29 on November 14 from the spaceport of Sriharikota, about 100 km from here, subject to weather conditions.

ISRO sources told UNI that the 3,423 kg satellite would be launched by India's heavy lift launch vehicle GSLV-MkIII-D2 at 1708 hrs from the SHAR Range.

With the Met office predicting heavy rains from the afternoon of Wednesday in view of Cyclonic storm 'Gaja' over the Bay of Bengal, which would cross the North Tamilnadu between Nagapattinam and Chennai as a Cyclonic Storm during the forenoon of November 15, the sources said weather would not be a concern.

The all weather proof Launch pad and the launch vehicle would withstand the conditions and there would not be any hitch in the lift off as the cyclonic storm was expected to cross only on Thursday. 'As of now the launch is scheduled at 1708 hrs', the sources said, adding, the countdown process for the launch, during which propellant filling operations would take place, would start once the Launch Authorisation Board meet at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre and cleared the mission.

GSLV MkIII-D2 would inject the satellite into GTO at an orbit of about 36,000 km with an inclination of 21.5 deg to the equator. The satellite will be placed in its final Geostationary Orbit (GEO) using the onboard propulsion system. It would take a few days after separation from launcher to reach its orbital slot.
